For practicing professionals, we offer certification and re-certification classes across a range of topics, including motivational interviewing, trauma and grief, and ethics, approved for credit by NYS OASAS.

NEW! ACCA is happy to announce the launch of our Hybrid and In-Person CASAC and CPP training program. This comprehensive program offers a hybrid option for individuals residing in Columbia, Greene, Warren, Schoharie Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, and Washington counties.

Training Courses

350-Hour CASAC Training

ACCA is an approved provider of the 350-hour CASAC Initial Standardized Curriculum, offering a structured, one-year training program that fulfills the educational requirements for eligibility for a CASAC-T (Trainee) Certificate in New York State. Classes are held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:00–9:00 PM, allowing participants to complete required coursework while balancing work and other responsibilities. The program is organized into four required sections covering the scientific foundations of substance use and co-occurring disorders, clinical counseling practices, assessment and treatment planning, and professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities. All coursework is NYS OASAS–approved and delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experienced healthcare and addiction professionals, with instruction emphasizing applied learning through interactive lectures, discussions, assignments, and assessments.

CASAC Prep Course

This course is designed to assist participants in understanding what they can anticipate on the CASAC exam and how to effectively prepare for it. It is important to note that this is a NON-CE workshop, meaning that it does not offer continuing education credits. The CASAC exam preparatory class spans over seven hours and covers various essential topics. These include providing a comprehensive overview of the CASAC exam structure, familiarizing participants with the rules and content areas that will be assessed, offering strategies to answer multiple-choice questions confidently and effectively, and providing detailed guidelines for studying and enhancing test-taking skills.

Full Scholarship Opportunities

Eligible students may be able to complete the entire 350-hour CASAC Program at no cost through the NYS OASAS Addiction Professionals Scholarship Program.

  • Scholarships are funded through New York State’s efforts to expand the addiction treatment workforce.
  • Priority is given to individuals working in or committed to serving OASAS, OMH, DOH, and related addiction service settings.
  • Recipients must meet specific eligibility criteria and complete all required educational hours.

Continuing Education

As a licensed NYS OASAS provider of continuing education, ACCA offers courses to employees and other professionals interested in furthering their career in alcohol and substance use counseling, mental health and other human service disciplines.

Training Courses

Initial Trainings (OASAS)

ACCA is an approved provider of the 350-hour CASAC Initial Standardized Curriculum, the initial certification training for the Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA), as well as the Initial Training for the 250-hour CCP. Courses are offered in person or through distance learning opportunities.

350-Hour CASAC Training

The CASAC Program is designed to provide students with the 350 hours of education required to receive a CASAC Trainee Certificate. Participants must complete one full year of scheduled evening classes to receive this certificate.

CASAC Section 1

This course covers the 85 hours of required education for Section 1 of the 350-hour CASAC training. Section 1 includes content related to understanding substances, their effects on the mind and body of the individual user, and their sociological importance both historically and in contemporary America.

CASAC Section 2

This course covers the 150 hours of required education for Section 2 of the 350-hour CASAC training. Section 2 focuses on clinical practices and direct patient care, including interventions.

CASAC Section 3

This course covers the 70 hours of required education for Section 3 of the 350-hour CASAC training. Section 3 centers on the treatment process and involves students working with partners to guide a fictional patient through “treatment.”

CASAC Section 4

This course covers the 45 hours of required education for Section 4 of the 350-hour CASAC training. Section 4 focuses on ethics in professional CASAC practice, including rules, regulations, and personal ethical standards.

60-Hour Problem Gambing

250-Hour CCP Training

The CPP/CPS program provides students with 250 CPP hours and the 120 CPS hours of education required to receive the CPP or CPS certificate.

Program Instructors

Courses are taught by a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare and addictions professionals.

Each CASAC-350 training session is held on Monday and Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Continuing Education training sessions available.  

Although an internship is not required to obtain a CASAC, included in ACCA’s program is fifty (50) hours of internship to be completed in the second half of coursework.

Requirements

Each student will be required to fill out an application and submit an essay upon entering the program.  A mid-term exam and a final exam are administered as part of the program. Each student must receive a 75% or higher on each exam in order to complete the course.

Each student will receive a certificate stating completion of each individual training session. All completed coursework must be paid in full prior to issuance of a certificate.
